I’m having surgery soon and don’t know what to expect ,I’m late 50’s and a gardener. Hope to be back in my Gardens spring 2008.

Not going to lie to you, I have performed these surgeries as an assistant…The bone is cut…and hurts like heck for awhile. The good news is…you will recover rather quickly. Most people are out of the hospital in 3 days and after rehab…back to normal in 6 weeks. I recommend a light exercise program prior to surgery…stretching and the like…just to get your body ready. You may be in pain for a bit, but after you heal…you wont beleive the difference. Work hard and do what they tell you to…and all is well! Spring will be here before you know it and your surgery will be forgotten. Good Luck!
my brother had his done in july, and he just went back to work two weeks ago. he is in his late 50’s also, he had kind of a rough recovery, but he is not really good about eating right and keeping in shape, so a healthier person will probably have a quicker and easier recovery than he has
Not a problem at all — gardening in the Spring of 2008 is a totally reasonable goal. I work in a rehab department, and I’ve had dozens of patients who were “total knees.” The majority of them were fully functional (at or above where they were before the surgery) within 3-4 weeks with rehab.
they say it works and will last about 12 to 15 years my father had his for 11 but he passed so we don’t know how long it would have lasted
A friend of mine had a knee replacement on one knee and a knee reconstruction. She said she got better results on the knee replacement one.
