Goal actually depends on more than the knee. Have you asked your medical doctor? Among other considerations, are function of heart and lungs, diet, any other chronic condition.
I don’t walk much in the winter, but come spring, I start with one mile. I do that several times a week, then progress slowly. Often, by October, I can do 5 miles. That is miraculous consddering that I am 71 next month and haven’t been able to quit smoking yet.
