I Am Looking For Other 50-55 Year Old Homemakers Who Have Had Knee Replacement Surgery. What’s It Really Like?
Women recovering in the home is like a husband recovering at his work. I’d like to know when I can get backto my”CHORES”, making dinner, doing laundry and such. How can I just lay there and watch my home go to ruin? If anyone has had this dilema, please advise!
Basically, you really need to be mobile but not overdue it. Being immobile is bad for you.
My sister just had her second knee replaced. Of course she had a recovery period, about six hours then they had her up in the hospital walking, with help of course.
At home, she just has her husband and a 4000 sq.ft. home and farm, with 27 Llamas and 17 horses plus, I won’t go into detail, and, 300 acres to maintain in Northern Minn.
She of course pampers it, she’s also a “savant” she’s 57 has osteoarthritis in the degenerative stages, severe, like me. I’ve had seven spinal surgeries and one shoulder, now my hands next week, one at a time.
Whether you go steel or plastic, now days it’s worse going to the dentist and, you have to walk as much as possible so, I suppose tending a farm is as much as a family maybe not as tense. Good luck and God bless.
after the surgery..get up..walk walk walk..it will make you a cripple if you don’t make yourself stay on your feet…if doc says ok..then keep busy
