No, no Knee replacement is necessary!
You could probably get by with some exercise to strengthen you tendons and ligaments though.

I answered this question earlier, so I am not sure if I didn't give you what you were looking for or if you didn't get it, but this is what I said...
Get your knee replaced again. I am sure that you knew you would have to have more than one since you are only in your 40's. I have had 13 knee surgeries, so I know the kind of pain and discomfort you are in. You have done all the right things and taken all the right steps...you are very proactive and that is the most important thing. Don't listen to your husband about the pain pills. If you need them to improve the quality of your life, you should take them. He is not in pain. I would tell him to shove it if I were you. If it hurts so bad that you cannot work and have trouble walking, you deserve to have every opportunity to ease that pain. Good luck to you.

Just be prepared to have more knee surgeries. This is the thing with TKRs-they are more prone to complications than total hips. My opinion is you underwent TKR very early at 40. Lots of luck to you.

Please talk to your doctor. You should not be afraid to ask your doctor questions, they are just people. You deserve to have ALL of your concerns addressed and any good doctor will be happy to give you any information about your specific procedure and the implant he/she has selected for you.
In general terms, a portion of the implant is a rod like structure that is inserted into the medulary canal of the femur and the tibia this adds strength and stability. There are a variety of different implants, your doctor can show you a picture of the specific one that will be used for you. PLEASE DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK!! Your doctor is not a mind reader and can't guess what information you want or need.

Yes, but you need lots of rest. For a while you can't walk, but after about two days you can.

Before I got arthritis, I enjoyed an active lifestyle that included swimming, walking, bicycling.. But when I started getting arthritis, everyday life became difficult. The more I walked the worse it [the arthritis pain] got, the pain was like a knife twisting inside. Sometimes my knee would give out, it just wouldn't support me. Then there was the sharp pain. Before surgery, the pain was absolutely debilitating. I was getting totally disabled. I couldn't walk. I couldn't stand. That's when I decided that I needed to do something. Once at church I met an very old friend of mine who suffered from the same pain as mine and that’s when she recommended me Fly2india4health Consultants in India , my first thought about surgery in India was fear. I researched on my condition and my possible treatment options. I also spoke with the associate orthopedic surgeon with Fly2india4health Consultants who gave me educational material to help set my expectations after surgery. I was also been told that I would be up the same day as surgery and I was. The most important thing after the surgery is exercise. After surgery, I didn't have to take a lot of pain medication - maybe for 2 or 3 days. I attribute that to the skill of my surgeon. I was driving two weeks after surgery, Had I known it was going to be this easy, I would have had it done much earlier. If u need any orthopaedic care I will certainly advice you to go to Fly2india4health Consultants!

My sister just had her second knee replaced. Of course she had a recovery period, about six hours then they had her up in the hospital walking, with help of course.
At home, she just has her husband and a 4000 sq.ft. home and farm, with 27 Llamas and 17 horses plus, I won't go into detail, and, 300 acres to maintain in Northern Minn.
She of course pampers it, she's also a "savant" she's 57 has osteoarthritis in the degenerative stages, severe, like me. I've had seven spinal surgeries and one shoulder, now my hands next week, one at a time.
Whether you go steel or plastic, now days it's worse going to the dentist and, you have to walk as much as possible so, I suppose tending a farm is as much as a family maybe not as tense. Good luck and God bless.
