No, no Knee replacement is necessary!
You could probably get by with some exercise to strengthen you tendons and ligaments though.

I answered this question earlier, so I am not sure if I didn’t give you what you were looking for or if you didn’t get it, but this is what I said…
Get your knee replaced again. I am sure that you knew you would have to have more than one since you are only in your 40’s. I have had 13 knee surgeries, so I know the kind of pain and discomfort you are in. You have done all the right things and taken all the right steps…you are very proactive and that is the most important thing. Don’t listen to your husband about the pain pills. If you need them to improve the quality of your life, you should take them. He is not in pain. I would tell him to shove it if I were you. If it hurts so bad that you cannot work and have trouble walking, you deserve to have every opportunity to ease that pain. Good luck to you.

Just be prepared to have more knee surgeries. This is the thing with TKRs-they are more prone to complications than total hips. My opinion is you underwent TKR very early at 40. Lots of luck to you.

Please talk to your doctor. You should not be afraid to ask your doctor questions, they are just people. You deserve to have ALL of your concerns addressed and any good doctor will be happy to give you any information about your specific procedure and the implant he/she has selected for you.
In general terms, a portion of the implant is a rod like structure that is inserted into the medulary canal of the femur and the tibia this adds strength and stability. There are a variety of different implants, your doctor can show you a picture of the specific one that will be used for you. PLEASE DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK!! Your doctor is not a mind reader and can’t guess what information you want or need.
