I have and after two years it still bothers me. You can forget about the running as impact on the knee will require futher surgery. Walking and riding a bike will be about all you can do.

- I haven’t had surgery or arthritis, but I worked on a medical rehab unit, where I seen a lot of people with total knee replacements. When I questioned them about their pain and their decision, I was told that the pain they felt after the surgery was more of a healing pain, instead of the pain they felt before the surgery. Although you can’t be doing a lot of heavy duty strain on your knees, at least you won’t be in pain like you were before you had surgery…..
- nope! but i HAVE had 2 total hip replacements in the past year, and ive been home for almost 3 weeks and i can WALK!! yay!!!!! i suffered alottt of loss of activity before and gained weight because i couldnt exercise, i suffered for years and im finally glad they r both done im only 37! i went through alott more pain before the surgeries than during or after! knees i would think would b alot easier! so i say it is a MUST do! good luck and dont worry as nike says “JUST DO IT!”
- Well, though I have arthritis, it is not that bad that I need joint replacement, but I know 2 women who had to undergo joint replacement. The pain was obviously very severe otherwise they would not go through such a major surgery. One of them had problems with other joints like hips so the question of walking freely and running did not arise. The other woman was past 60 and was not the athletic type. But yes, walking and sitting etc. was not an issue for them. Check with the surgeon planning the surgery since there are different types of joints and the results vary from person to person.
In any case, you or the person who is in need of such surgery must be suffering a lot at present and so surgery should be considered. The pain will disappear. - The price of total knee replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your knee joint surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her Knee Joint surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

I answered this question earlier, so I am not sure if I didn’t give you what you were looking for or if you didn’t get it, but this is what I said…
Get your knee replaced again. I am sure that you knew you would have to have more than one since you are only in your 40’s. I have had 13 knee surgeries, so I know the kind of pain and discomfort you are in. You have done all the right things and taken all the right steps…you are very proactive and that is the most important thing. Don’t listen to your husband about the pain pills. If you need them to improve the quality of your life, you should take them. He is not in pain. I would tell him to shove it if I were you. If it hurts so bad that you cannot work and have trouble walking, you deserve to have every opportunity to ease that pain. Good luck to you. - Total Knee Replacement Performed 5 Years Ago. Just be prepared to have more knee surgeries. This is the thing with TKRs-they are more prone to complications than total hips. My opinion is you underwent TKR very early at 40. Lots of luck to you. - Total Knee Replacement At I.u Hopsital?
